Which weekend is may long
First things first, when does Victoria Day fall this year? With one paid holiday given, why not tack on the Friday preceding the weekend or the Tuesday immediately following to make it a May Extra Long Weekend? And how to best make use of that time off? Pull over to admire the fruit orchards in bloom with rosy red cherries, golden apricots and indigo plums. Depending on the weather conditions, it could mean some high-elevation skiing at Sunshine Village or Marmot Basin, or some tranquil Spring hiking at lower elevations in K-Country.
As the shoulder season valley? Make it a historic stay with a room at the Fort Garry Hotel , made all the loveable by a morning tea and cookie service. By submitting a comment, you accept that CBC has the right to reproduce and publish that comment in whole or in part, in any manner CBC chooses.

PS - Jane, it actually is the government's responsibility to take necessary measures to protect it's citizens from a potential threat. If Canada had more competent leaders, we could be like New Zealand by now, but that isn't the case and whining about continued lockdowns isn't going to change anything.
You'll just have to vote accordingly at the next election. At the very least this needs to be rebranded because the Royals have done and since we as people have learned and are better should no longer celebrate this type of behaviour and there being paedophilia with Andrew does not help either.
Linda, just because "other countries" have it worse, does that mean we should be fine with how we are now? If we can improve we improve, we should not stay stagnant.
And certainly should not glorify any people who promoted "bloodshed" or "greed" by having a holiday in their name Again, should just rebrand to something else, it's not even consistent across the years anyways.
Posted by Linda : Oh, my, Abby! So, I'm guessing no one in your family takes the Monday of this long week-end off! Governments are corrupt because people are corrupt- power hungry, selfish, money-grabbing, etc. Most of us have few ties to the UK, but we have ties to something. Whatever that is did not become what it is without bloodshed or greed.
So let's focus on the positive - we live in a relatively safe, very rich most of us have food and shelter , anti-gun toting country!
