Where is thumper trail in austin

I've never really considered Thumper overly technical. Its just a but-kicker of an effort. I could very well see myself making another pre-ride call next week Thurs? I know what you mean about the exponential reduction. I think the first time I rode it was with you at night I was nuts! The next time I rode the whole thing, I think it took me something like 2 hours for a 5 mile trail. The time after that, , then Ride Thumper x per week and not only will you learn it and get faster in it, you'll get in shape fast!

I think that first section with the off-camber turns and sometimes-slick rock are tougher than City Park. I kinda figured as much. You're nearing OG status with how long you've been around that trail. However, that Strava file will not be the route we do this Thursday.

First-off, we will be starting from a different location BB Rovers and we will not be doing St Eds on Thursday either. What always gets people with Thumper is where the trail crosses itself.

The only way out of Thumper is to finish it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. I'm planning to go. About how many miles of trail are we riding? I've riden this trail a few times but have not been able to navigate though it very well. Looking forward to riding with folks who are familiar with this trail. I was at Thumper 2 Saturdays ago now and it could definitely use more wheels at that time. Really miss having the time and fitness to do the old Thursday Thumper rides. I too may try to ride there from home unsure if I'll do some bonus miles at WC with Barry afterwards or not We had 3 people cancel last-minute, thus we rolled out with 5 from BB Rovers.

We had 1 bailout early, then picked another up mid-trail. It was a fairly even group and we rode a more steady pace, while still accomplishing some minor trail work along t he way. Thumper is in pretty good condition. The canopy is tight in a few places, and the trail tread is looser than normal. But I think that's due to the recent ongoing dryness and the lack of wheels on it. Look for another ride call s to come again in a week or two. We waited a bit and then considered that you may have taken an earlier departure due to the sprinkling.

Cody and Barry passed in front of my office on Jollyville as I was heading home. So wished I had my bike to try and keep up, but know I would be dropped like a rock! All about goals and stepped progression. Looks like ya'll had a good ride with a decent group. I fell behind and opted to bail out when I noticed I was near the trailhead. It was starting to get dark and I wasn't super excited about riding that trail in the dark.

It started raining soon after I got off the trail. I could see you guys when I stopped and was yelling out to you to try and let you know. Hopefully you weren't waiting long. Also realized that my fiskars did not make it out of the trail.

Hopefully they are put to good trail maintenance use by the new owners. Do you have an idea as to where your fiskars ended up? There are a few super technical sketchy features. Not a flow trail. The Trailforks map is incomplete. Please refer to the Photo of the local trail map.

With all due respect, these videos do little to show the glory that is Thumper. Ridden properly, this place truly shines. It's hard, but it flows if you know how to ride it. This person does not know the trail. I feel compelled to strap on a camera harness and capture what this place is about. Please strap on that camera and post a vid.

It would be nice to know the true flow. Thanks for the pic of the map, that has got to help some. Post a Comment Login or Sign Up. Open trail in mobile app. You must login to Trailforks. Jun 11, pm Jun 11, Mostly dry.

One or two trees still down but mostly clear. Mar 11, pm Mar 11, Large trees down across trail, blocking trail in several spots, some trail fairies with chainsaws needed. Jun 2, pm Jun 2, One trail runner, one other hiker, and two mountain bikers are all who passed me I saw two or three other bikers on different paths, but our trails never crossed.

I had to knock some points from how enjoyable this was only because I got frustrated and couldn't find my way out easily. There were signs on trees and arrows pointing every which way, but I couldn't make sense of it at all. Every so often I'd pass a map tacked to a tree but there was nothing on the map indicating where exactly I was. At one point I was certain I was heading in the direction of where I parked my car-- certainly not on a trail I had been on-- when I passed the same tree where someone had hung a water bottle that I had passed fifteen minutes early, only going in a different direction.

I have no idea how I managed to loop around and get back on that section of the trail, only heading in a different direction. The Dominion Neighborhood Association created this trail, which I found on a mountain biking site, trails. Park on Yaupon by the rock near the pool. Begin descending the rocky trail slightly and then head to the left, and you'll see an arrow pointing left into the woods.

This trail was seemingly built to cover every square inch of this wooded area, we passed the same picnic bench 4 different times on different parts of the trail, and you'll see a few signs naming parts of the trail.

Periodically you'll see maps though they don't tell you where you are. We got down to the creek and lost the trail but got back to the entrance fairly easily, but be prepared to not find easy exits of this trail. It's much like walnut creek for the amount of trails and dry smelly creeks. I think the HOA built such a long trail that no one bothers to hike it, nice if you want a long hike close to town. I took a bunch of pictures but the site is not letting me upload them, sorry! Our first visit, last week.

We went down the gravel hill and as much as we missed the actual trail, enjoyed this hike.
