Why do hotels have presidential suites
The most underwhelming of the entire suite was the bedroom that was basically a large room with just a bed and a single chair in it. That was weird. After the bathroom episode when not even hot water was available for both the shower and the jacuzzi I left the hotel entirely the following morning, originally I had three nights reserved.
This week I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Bali and was offered the Presidential Suite one of two at the property as another guest required my Oceanview Suite with a connecting room. I actually like that Oceanview Suite and was perfectly happy with it — in fact I moved back to one after only one night at the Presidential.
My problem was that it was extremely noisy outside as it faces the private Regency Club Pool. In the morning I was woken up by loud machinery for pool cleaning at am. Also the air condition blew right onto a bed and it was impossible to shut it off and let air in from the living room as the Spa room was in between and prevented any airflow. I was glad the hotel was able to move me back into the original suite type the next afternoon.
There is simply no need for conference tables, huge dining tables, a monstrosity of a couch and similar oversized furniture items. None of this applies to a regular Joe who is on a business or vacation trip. I adore the hotel, but they close every one of the 5 pools at 7 PM daily, which sucks massively as a guest. Given the surprisingly early closing hours, it would only seem sensible to do the cleaning after closing, rather than cause noise super early in the morning.
The hotel manager was surprised as well but since I took a video of it which was really super loud he traced it back to pool cleaning and promised to follow up for the comfort of other guests as well.
Agreed, the pool closure is bad but I never had a problem swimming in any of the pools regardless of them being closed or not. On more than one occasion I returned to the check-in desk and the staff noted the room was too large without me stating as such. The hotel manager at one location noted the large rooms are not the desirable rooms for the average business traveler as the priorities are not the room size and the room amenities.
Personally the desirable room includes a view, a desk with a view and a TV in sight of the desk. Quiet is of the utmost importance and the more difficult issues with noise are often the HVAC issues. One nice upgrade was the upgrade to a one bedroom suite at IC Park Lane as the original room smelled of cigarette smoke and the manager concluded nothing could be done to eliminate the smell.
Same like one does when it comes to your home or car. I have had quite a few such large m plus suites that were not best room in hotel, along side best in hotel suites too.
How deliciously posh! And the bathroom in the Hyatt Boston Harbor is divine — I would never, ever want to leave! Wow, that IS luxurious travel, something I will probably never experience unless some manna from heaven suddenly just appears. This is so different from what we do…RV cruising! Carol — I may never experience RV cruising either, but that is why I love to read your posts! That was fun.
The list of names on the door plaque was thrill enough they had a guest inside. Best one was the Hilton in downtown Chicago. Gorgeous everything!
Looking before I got married, 26 years ago, I had a boyfriend with a famous name and we were upgraded all the time to presidential suites with fruit basket and fresh flowers. It was a treat. The beautiful Boston Public Garden with the Boston skyline in the background. What is it like to stay in a Presidential Suite? Two words: Fab-ulous! A little Presidential Suite history… The Presidential Suite gained its name during the Woodrow Wilson presidency — because on each of his political trips away from the Capitol, he would insist on having a hotel room conform to specific requirements for his visit.
Presidential Suite 1 On the first evening of my trip, I stayed at the Hyatt Boston Harbor , a newly renovated property with views of the city of Boston that will make you swoon. The Living Room The view of Boston from the living room on a cloudy day. The beautiful bedroom with a desk, computer and seating area. How about the bathroom? My view from the restaurant…amazing!
The sparkling view of Boston in the evening. Presidential Suite 2 I stayed in Boston for one night each on the arrival and departure days of my trip to Kennebunkport. I am sure I left my glass slipper in that room… Super cool light fixtures and decor. We could have drinks or have a meeting at this large table.
The terrace — kind of looked like a movie set. The spectacular view from the terrace My husband and I travel a great deal together and he travels even more for business.
